PM-DevINE Scheme Boosts Assam’s Schools With Modern Classrooms and New Institutions

PM-DevINE Scheme Boosts Assam’s Schools

The PM-DevINE scheme, which is the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for the North East Region, is rapidly boosting the education system of Assam. Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma pointed out how the government is changing schools through the programme and opening gates to quality education for the entire state.

The PM-DevINE scheme was presented in the Union Budget 2022-23 as a Central Sector initiative with full central funding. Its aim is to create a North East India which is developed and economically progressive through infrastructure development. It takes care of the core areas in the sectors like education, health, transport, tourism, etc., and supports projects by providing necessary services and facilities.

Modernisation of school infrastructure has been one of the major targets in Assam. Smart classrooms and digital learning devices are a part of the upgrades that have been done to several government schools under the scheme. There were renovations done to the older buildings, and the basic facilities got upgraded, so students can learn in a safe, comfortable, and technology-enabled environment.

To illustrate the transformation that is taking place, Chief Minister Sarma mentioned a school in Palasbari established in 1953. A traditional school has now emerged as a “divine space” where learning is considered to be closely associated with positioning youngsters for future opportunities.

The influence of this project is not limited to the physical structures. The authorities claim that the improved school atmosphere aids not only in the outcomes of learning but also in the infrastructure closing, especially in the semi-urban and rural areas where students had limited access to modern facilities. Kids can now have quality teaching near their homes instead of making long journeys.

Besides these improvements, the state government has also got the green light to set up 100 new schools all over Assam. This increase in schools is the largest one made in the public education system of the state and it strengthens the education as a developing factor in the society which is a long term commitment. The leaders say that such a commitment is based on a notion that effective educational systems are the vehicles for human resource development and, consequently, economic progress.

The educationists have applauded the joining of PM-DevINE’s projects with Assam’s own reforms. They observe that excellent infrastructure, in conjunction with proficient teachers and digital tools, can lift the education standard of that child incredibly. They even go to the extent of saying this is more the case when the improvements come about in the communities that have been neglected for years.

The scheme not only fits in perfectly with the larger national objectives for the northeastern region, which enjoys targeted financing under PM-DevINE, but also the whole of the northeast, where dozens of projects in various sectors are already being funded until the end of 2025, thus allowing the government to work on those aspects that have the biggest potential for creating lasting economic and social benefits.

For Assam, the combination of upgraded facilities in existing schools, the building of new institutions, and a strong vision for education means students have better learning opportunities than before. State leaders view this as more than a short-term improvement. They describe it as a meaningful step in preparing young people to meet modern challenges and contribute to the state’s future.
